French – Early Learning
Grades 1 – 3
Mondays 3:40 – 4:30pm

Mlle. Juliana Giallonardo is so excited to share her love of the French language with the Whitney PS students! French Early Learning is an introduction to the French language and culture as well as a complement to FSL. The goal of French Early Learning is to create a French speaking learning environment where students begin to express their thoughts and ideas in French in a fun and interactive setting!

Musical Theatre & Drama Skills Development
Grades 1 – 6
Thursdays 3:40 – 5:15pm

Directed by Sharon Heldt and Bailey Thibodeau, the musical theatre & drama skills development program helps students gain confidence with public speaking and performing while building their teamwork skills. Students will develop improv, dance and drama skills, preparing them for the spring production. The session will end with an informal presentation of the student’s newly developed skills. Sharon Heldt has experience teaching musical theatre at Acting Out! Theatre, Young People’s Theatre, Zamarts and Etobicoke School of Arts.

Karate
Grades 1 – 6
Wednesdays 3:40 – 4:45pm *Returning students until 5:15pm

James Greer returns to teach Karate for white belts and beginners. Trained as a second-degree black belt, James designs and teaches karate programs specifically for children. Students will be introduced to the principles of self-discipline, self-control, leadership and teamwork in addition to learning traditional Okinawan Karate. A karate gi (uniform) is required and can be purchased through the instructor as a reduced rate.

Intro to Tennis
Grades 1 -4
Fridays 3:40 – 4:45pm

Instructors from TAC Sports provide a positive and secure environment where students can learn tennis skills and develop confidence in their abilities. In addition, instructors will focus on training every child, with an emphasis on sportsmanship and positive self-talk. Children will be coached in ways that are appropriate for their age and skill level. Junior tennis racquets and low-impact tennis balls will be provided.

HI Five for Life
Grades 4 – 6
Mondays 3:40 – 4:45pm

Hi Five for Life is a 5 week mindfulness program aimed at inspiring kids (9-13yrs) to develop their own core life skills for a healthy and confident life. We believe it’s important to empower kids about their choices that affect their health. With our program, we offer a safe environment where kids have a voice to express themselves, share and learn from each other. Children will learn basic life skills around our 5 mindful seeds; Restful Sleep, Body Movement, Food Education, Meditation & Breathing, Community & Gratitude.
