Mooredale Youth Storytellers Wanted!

The Young Canadians Roundtable on Health, in partnership with The Sandbox Project and Healthy Debate, is seeking youth ages 12-19 years to participate in their project, “In Their Own Words – Reflections by Youth on the Pandemic”.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge and lasting effect on the entire Canadian population and dominates the national conversation. Many voices have been heard, yet, there is one group whose stories have not been told, and whose perspectives have not been sought – Canada’s youth. This is in spite of the fact that youth will be forced to deal with the long term and lasting consequences of the pandemic.

This project is calling out to youth from communities across Canada to relay their experiences of how the pandemic has affected them, using their preferred styles and/or media form including writing, art, photography, video and/or audio. Healthy Debate will provide the public platform to amplify their voices sharing their stories, nationally, through a featured Special Series. It is imperative that we learn and understand the current needs of youths, which can then inform the public at large as well as policy makers about future changes which should be implemented to foster positive growth of current youth as well as those to come.

Visit the project website at for additional project details and consent forms. Please submit your contribution and completed forms by end of day September 30, 2021. If you would like to speak further regarding the project or your potential contribution in this project, contact

Join us for a workshop night on Wednesday, September 22 from 5:30 – 8:00pm at Mooredale House. Youth are invited to share their ideas and will be provided with art, writing and media materials to complete their story. Youth who attend will also be provided with a volunteer sign off for the hours they committed to the project.
