President, Christina A. Cavanagh
Christina has been the Mooredale Orchestras and Concerts Board member since 2012. Her background is a mix of business – executive management in profit and not-for profit entities, as well as academic, having taught at Ivey Business School and Rotman School of Management. She is author of the book “Managing Your E-mail: Thinking Outside the Inbox.” Her most recent long-term assignment was serving as Chief Marketing Officer for a mid-size financial and data services firm. Currently, she is an independent management consultant and tries to find time to practise piano.
Orchestras/Concerts Director, Bijan Sepanji
Bijan Sepanji is a violinist and educator based in Toronto. In his role as conductor with Mooredale Youth Orchestras, he leads the junior strings division preparing them for three diversely programmed concerts per season, assists both the Intermediate and Senior orchestras, and since 2020 has established a summer chamber music program for Mooredale string players.
Mayfair, Victoria Turner
Victoria and her husband, Scott Turner, have been members of Mooredale since 2012. Their three children have participated in Mooredale’s camps, program and sports over the years. Victoria Chaired this past year’s Mayfair and is looking forward to working alongside of the incredible group that will bring Mayfair 2024 to life.
Program and Camp, Alicia Thomson
Alicia and her husband Jonathan have been Mooredale members since 2021. Their daughter Charlie currently attends Mooredale Preschool, participates in many of the after school programs and is a huge fan of the summer camp. Alicia is serving her second consecutive term as Co-Chair of the Parent Committee. She looks forward to working closely with Program Manager and Camp Director Alyse (Toba) to create new program ideas and to further her involvement in the Mooredale community.
Pool Club, Katherine McKeown
Katy has been a member of Mooredale Pool Club for well over a decade. She and her husband and their three children all love spending time at our wonderful swimming pool. Katy was a competitive swimmer as a teenager, later a qualified lifeguard while at university in the UK (where she is originally from) and is at her happiest in or close to water! She looks forward to helping to make sure the pool club continues to be enjoyed by members, both old and new.
Preschool, Emily Ross
Emily Ross has been a parent at Mooredale since September 2021. Having been class rep for the Parent Committee, she now serves as Co-Chair for the 2023-2024 school year. Emily has worked as a marketing professional in both publishing and real estate industries and is the Co-Founder of love-eddi limited, an online baby gifting company.
Soccer Club and Sports, TBC
Support the Sports teams with programming design and implementation.
Brief Description of Duties
- attend 5-6 board meetings annually
- provide guidance on Mooredale’s strategic direction to the management team
- ensure an effective governance system in in place to provide appropriate accountability to members, Mooredale employees, volunteers, and the public
- approve annual budgets, review quarterly statements, and ensure the financial stability of Mooredale House
- review and ensure appropriate and effective policies and standards that protect Mooredale’s shareholders and its employees
