Adult Programs

Mooredale has more than just programs for children and youth.  We have programs for adults too!  

Active Programs:

9:30 Workout – Mondays and Fridays (9:30 – 10:30am)
This class is practically an institution at Mooredale. Running on Monday, and Friday’s, the 9:30 Workout is an effective and efficient one hour full body workout, combining cardiovascular and strength training. Led by Rebecca Bell, an experience fitness instructor, who offers effective personalized attention that draws on her depth of knowledge and passion for body mechanics. The class includes 30 minutes dedicated to CARDIO FITNESS and 30 minutes of focused STRENGTH and FLEXIBILITY training.

Stretch Fusion – Wednesdays (10:30-11:30am)
This class offers a combination of dance and yoga based stretch movements. If you are looking to include flexibility based training into your fitness routine, if you are eager to improve your range of motion, or
if you are looking to feel the wonderful sense of ease that an hour spent mindfully stretching and releasing tightness, this class is for you! Instructed by Rebecca Bell

Cardio Dance Fusion Tuesday at Mooredale (11:30 – 12:30pm) Thursdays (9:30 – 10:30am)

Cardio Dance Fusion led by Fraser McCarthy. He has been instructing Dance and fitness for over 20 years. Join us for a fun easy to follow class, set to popular music that gets the heart pumping! Followed by some
calisthenics that focuses on core and stretching

Adult Karate – Tuesdays (6:00 – 7:30 pm)
After many years of teaching karate to the children of Mooredale members, instructor James Greer from the Cold Mountain School has introduced Karate to any interested adults at Mooredale. Trained as a Second degree black belt, James designs and teaches karate programs that will be suitable for any fitness and skill level. Participants will progress through traditional Okinawan Karate and self-defense.

Yoga – Mondays (6:00 – 7:30 pm)
James will be teaching an exploratory yoga program for beginners and those who would like to try other aspects of yoga. Students will be introduced to traditional Ashtanga primary poses, restoration, yin yoga, pranayama and doweling. The aim is to help students develop and advance their own practices as the become less stresses, healthy and strong. Participants can bring their own yoga mat or one will be provided.

Zumba – Thursdays

Zumba is a fusion of Latin and Intl’ music – dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning.

Winter Walkers – Thursdays & Saturdays

Join our Winter Wonderland Walkers group for a rejuvenating and invigorating winter outdoor experience! Embrace the beauty of the season,socialize with fellow community members, and enjoy the numerous physical and mental health benefits of brisk winter walks—all while exploring the picturesque neighbourhood around our community.
Safety First: Your well-being is our priority. Our experienced walk leaders will ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. We will monitor weather conditions and adapt routes if necessary. A liability waiver must be signed.
Socialization: Connect with your neighbours and fellow community members as you stroll through the winter wonderland. Share stories, make new friends, and strengthen community bonds.
Vitamin D Boost: Get your daily dose of Vitamin D from the winter sun, even on cold days.
Fresh Air: Breathe in the crisp, clean winter air, which can be both energizing and calming. It’s a great way to escape indoor stuffiness.
Free and Inclusive: This program is open to all ages and completely free to join.
Walking at Your Own Pace: Our walks are designed for individuals of all fitness levels. We’ll walk at a slow to moderate pace (around 3 miles per hour), ensuring that everyone can comfortably participate.
Proper Attire: To fully enjoy the winter elements, make sure to dress appropriately for the weather. Layer up, wear warm clothing, and ensure you have suitable footwear for snowy or icy conditions.
Refreshments: We’ll start and end our walks at Mooredale House, where you can enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate, tea, or coffee. Hydrate with complimentary water. Please bring your own travel mug or water bottle. Feel free to contribute what you wish for these refreshments

Pickleball Indoor Court Reservations Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursday and Fridays

New this winter we are offering Pickleball Court Reservations in the Studio at Mooredale. Designed
to provide a convenient and accessible location for players of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the fast paced and exciting game of pickleball. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or new to the sport, our
dedicated court space is the perfect spot to engage in friendly matches, get some exercise during the
winter months. Reserve the court and bring up to 3 member friends to share the court time with. We
provide the net, balls, and court, you provide your own paddle. Please note our indoor court is size is
5 inches narrower than a standard court size.


Water Colour Painting – Mondays

This class is for adult students willing to learn how to use water colours to express their artistic sensibilities. The students will progress from learning the basics of watercolour painting up to advanced levels. They will learn how to mix watercolour paints to make the right tones and also master brush strokes for painting landscape, portrait, still life, etc. A variety of watercolour painting projects are assigned to provide students with an opportunity to practice their skills independently.

Emergency First Aid & CPR – January 31

Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Course. WSIB Mandated Regulation 1101. You will learn how to deal with additional life-threatening medical emergencies, above and beyond what is delivered in the one-day Emergency First Aid course. This broader, more in-depth course places you into real life medical emergencies via hands-on practical skills stations and scenarios. 3-year Emergency First Aid with CPR/AED Level C, Adult, Child Infant. Certification card provided.

Seniors Social Group – Wednesdays

The Senior Social Group is a vibrant and welcoming community for seniors seeking fun, friendship, and a variety of engaging activities during the winter months. Whether you’re looking to meet new friends,learn new skills, or simply have a great time, this program is perfect for you. Some examples of activities’ include:

Movie Time – It’s a great opportunity to enjoy classic films and recent releases while sharing your thoughts with friends.
Game Days – Get your competitive spirit going with seated volleyball, ladder golf, and bean bag toss. These games are adapted to suit everyone’s comfort levels and abilities.
Arts + Crafts – Unleash your creativity with painting and crafting. Explore your artistic side, express yourself through colours, and create beautiful artworks with the help of fellow members.
Mental Gym – Challenge your mind with chess, board games, and puzzles. Engage in friendly competition or collaborative problem-solving to keep your brain active and sharp.
Tech Time – Stay up-to-date with the digital world by learning new tech skills. Our group leader and fellow members can assist you in navigating smartphones, tablets, or other devices.

Refreshments: We provide complimentary water, coffee, tea, and a small snack, ensuring that you stay refreshed and energized throughout the afternoon.
Membership: We’re currently welcoming new members with open arms. Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the area, all seniors are encouraged to join our friendly community.
Group Leader: We are actively seeking a group leader who will guide the activities and facilitate a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. If you have a passion for working with seniors and creating memorable experiences, please consider taking on this important role.
