Teammate Request Policy

Mooredale will allow only a like for like teammate request.  If requested at the time of registration, Mooredale will make every effort to accommodate placement on a team with ONE other registered player.  Only one request will be accepted and will be considered only if both players request one another.

Such a teammate request must be made in writing, in an email to the sports manager (sports@mooredale.on.ca), and will not be accepted over the phone.

Requests will not be granted after September 1.

Mooredale Flag Football runs September - November out of local De La Salle College.  We offer several divisions, including a new Learn to Play division for our youngest football players.  The program runs for 11 weeks in total, including Combine Day, exhibition games, regular season games, and playoff games.

Typical Week in Mooredale Flag Football

U8 - Learn to Play

Players will have one 90-minute session per week (Sundays at 11am).  Coaches will instruct players on basic football skills (e.g. catching, throwing, basic offence and defence) through the use of drills and games.  Players will get the opportunity to play in game situations, but the focus of the program is on introducing skills to players.

U10, U12, U15

Players have one 90-minute session per week (Sundays).  Teams have 30 minutes set aside at the beginning of the session for practice.  The volunteer coaches, with the support of our referees and technical staff, can run their teams through drills and game situations.  The remaining 60 minutes are for game play.

What's Included in Registration?

  • Team jersey
  • Team photo & individual photo
  • U8 division receives participation medals
  • U10, U12, and U15 division champions and finalists receive medals
  • Referee and technical staff fees

*Note: depending on the final number of teams in each division, an age group may use both time slots noted above.  If that's the case, then the teams will rotate between the earlier and later time slots.

*Note: this schedule is tentative and subject to change based on final registration numbers, permits, and facility availability.  Mooredale reserves the right to merge age groupings together in the case where a division is not viable due to registration numbers.

Combine Day

Combine Day provides our technical staff with the opportunity to assess the players in the league, so we can create player ratings.  These ratings are for our internal use only - which we use to try and create balanced divisions so games can be competitive for everyone.  We encourage all players - whether new to the league or returning - to attend Combine Day so we can have a good picture of the divisions before we begin the rostering process.

Coaching

Technical Staff / Referees

Our Flag Football Technical Staff members bring with them a great deal of experience in the sport.  Many participate in leagues run through their university or participated in them in the past, and some are Mooredale Flag Football alumni!

Our Technical Staff members will run the U8 Learn to Play program, and serve as referees during the U10, U12, and U15 games.  They are available to volunteer coaches during the 30-minute practices as a resource and are happy to help out as needed.

Volunteer Coaches

Our volunteer coaches are an integral part of our Flag Football program, and we are always looking for more individuals to help us out.  If you're interested in coaching in the league this season, be sure to select the option when registering your child, or contact us at ftsafaridis@mooredale.on.ca!
