BATUCADA CARIOCA Presenting the heaviest, most grooviest, Brazilian Samba troupe on this side of the hemisphere, Batucada Carioca. Batucada Carioca are fresh with their 2010 summer repertoire and sure to get your emotions running high on the dance floor as the pulse of the surdos (bass drums) move your body and the tamborins lift your spirits. Add to this the melodic strumming of the cavaquinho, a bass and trombone, and you have a show worth more than gold.
Batucada Carioca is led by Maninho Costa from Rio de Janeiro. Maninho is born into the samba tradition, his uncle is Odilon Costa, perhaps the most famous samba master of Brazil. Around the world he is Brazil's ambassador to Rio style samba. This is the real deal.

Time: be at the club house by 6pm for a short briefing at 6:00. The game starts 7pm at the dock. Game rules: Two persons per boat: one experienced sailor and one 2010 sailor (with or without WS). Sailing rules (mark rounding, when boats cross) apply. More about sailing rules... The winner: the boat which crew member crosses the finish line first. The starting and finishing line will be on shore between the dock and the club house. Start: boats ready to sail at the dock, one of the crew on board. The other crew stands behind a fence, sorry I mean a line, and can cross the line as soon as he is the first person to answer one of the 10 questions. Yes, this is a "QUIZ START", soon to be recognized by the Olympic commitee! Course: boats will have to leave the dock and sail directly to the first mark, and follow the course decided during the briefing. Finish: the boat will then sail back to the dock, any "wrekless sailing" will be sanction by an automatic "dish washing chore". The boat is considered finished when one of the crew member crosses the finish line (on shore). Betting: social sailors and guests are welcome to bet on their favorite team. The better with the closest forcast will win one of great gifts !!! Questions: Contact the organizers, John and Fred at

Rob knows that competing at a local, provincial, national or international level requires focus and training. He will be discussing regatta preparation techniques that he has learned through many years of successful racing. With the Albacore Internationals in our own backyard in 2011, Rob will also touch upon his experience training for an international event, the 2009 Laser Master World Championships, where he finished 8th, with an amazing four 1st places finishes.
