Programs at Whitney PS

French - Early Learning
Grades 1 - 3
Mondays 3:40 - 4:30pm

Mlle. Juliana Giallonardo is so excited to share her love of the French language with the Whitney PS students! French Early Learning is an introduction to the French language and culture as well as a complement to FSL. The goal of French Early Learning is to create a French speaking learning environment where students begin to express their thoughts and ideas in French in a fun and interactive setting!

School Play
Grades 2 - 6
Tuesdays 3:40 - 5:15pm


The popular school play is returning in September. Directed by Stefani Kleinberg and Meredith Busteed, the school play program helps students gain confidence with public speaking and performing while building their teamwork skills. Stefani Kleinberg is a director, writer, singer and actor and has been leading the School Play program for over five years with great success. The program runs for 13 weeks and concludes with a 30 - 40 minute performance for friends and family.

Karate
Grades 1 - 6
Wednesdays 3:40 - 4:45pm *Returning students until 5:15pm

James Greer returns to teach Karate for white belts and beginners. Trained as a second-degree black belt, James designs and teaches karate programs specifically for children. Students will be introduced to the principles of self-discipline, self-control, leadership and teamwork in addition to learning traditional Okinawan Karate. A karate gi (uniform) is required and can be purchased through the instructor as a reduced rate.

Intro to Tennis
Grades 1 -4
Fridays 3:40 - 4:45pm

Instructors from TAC Sports provide a positive and secure environment where students can learn tennis skills and develop confidence in their abilities. In addition, instructors will focus on training every child, with an emphasis on sportsmanship and positive self-talk. Children will be coached in ways that are appropriate for their age and skill level. Junior tennis racquets and low-impact tennis balls will be provided.

LSA Minecraft Modding
Grades 4 - 6
Mondays 3:40 - 4:45pm

In this foundation program, students will be in contact to all the structure of gathering resources, crafting supplies, and making tools in the Minecraft world. Using Immersive Learning, they replicate real-world scenarios developing Spatial Visualization while enhancing Math skills and team collaboration. Lifetime Skills Learned: Immersive Learning, Spatial Visualization and Team Collaboration

LAC 3D Printing
Grades 4 -6
Thursdays 3:40 - 4:45pm

Our students will learn how to model and 3D-print different Masterpieces every class: from Eiffel Tower to Labyrinth Gift Boxes, from Dinosaurs to Rockets, everything is possible. Each model in each class will be brought home. We even have materials that glow in the dark! Lifetime Skills learned: Building Imagination, Creating Prototypes and Innovation
