Mooredale Day Camp swimming pool

Intermediate Section (6-8yrs)

Intermediate campers have completed SK or above by June. Campers age 6 - 8 are placed in boy or girl groups in Intermediate camp.  Able to handle more than our younger campers, Intermediates are given challenging programs appropriate to their age levels.

The Intermediate Section Director works with the Intermediate Counsellors, Assistant Counsellors and Specialty Staff to develop skills, foster team-building and develop each camper's sense of personal competence. The program offers exciting challenges appropriate to this age group. Counsellor to camper ratios in this section are 1:6.

Specialty Activities:  Athletics, Arts and Crafts, Music and Drama, Cooking, a one-hour Tennis Lesson with a Rosedale Tennis Club pro, and Archery are the specialty activities for this age group.

Swimming and Safety

Intermediate campers take part in two swim times during the camp day.  The first is a 30 minute Red Cross swim lesson, led by the life guarding staff in the Mooredale pool.  All lifeguards are trained and certified to instruct swimming lessons appropriate to your child's swimming ability.

The second swim time is during the all-camp recreation swim before lunch.  In order to ensure everyone's safety we take the following safety precautions.  First of all, while the camp is swimming, the pool has a full lifeguard team actively guarding the pool.  If a camper requires assistance while swimming, a personal flotation device is available to use. Further, we require that all Intermediate section counsellors stay within a short reach of their campers.  In addition, at the 15 minute mark we clear the pool and do an attendance check.  Finally, additional camp support staff are also in the pool and available to assist.
