Week 2 of the Regular Season [Jan 22]
Last week was another great week in Mooredale Hockey!
Monday was a day filled with practice where the Intro to Hockey division, and the U9, and U11 divisions took the ice to practice their skills and build on the skills they’ve been working on for a couple of weeks. Our youngest skaters are starting to look a lot more confident on their skates, and the U9s and U11s are beginning to get into a good rhythm on the ice.
Moving into Wednesday the excitement ramped up as the U9s challenged each other for the second time this season. It was a thrilling game as the Canadiens came out with authority, scoring a few quick goals and taking an early lead. The Bruins battled back in true Boston fashion however, and were able to come away with a 5-3 victory.

After the cancellation the prior week, the U14 teams were all busy on Wednesday prepping for their first games of the season. They primarily focused on their stickhandling, but ended with some friendly scrimmages, and even did some penalty shootouts…just in case!

As Thursday hit, both the U11 and U14 divisions were hungry for the start of regular season games. With the U11 Canadiens and U14 Canadiens both having a double header, it was smart play and endurance that would help them get through the long night. The U11 Canadiens managed to win both of their games, starting off their season with a perfect 2-0-0 record. The U14 Canadiens managed a great first win over the Maple Leafs, but moving into the second game fatigue caught up with the players. The high energy that had caught the Leafs by surprise in the first game was not as influential against the Bruins in the second game, which led to an exciting back and forth final game of the night. In the end, the Bruins finished on top with a close 5-4 victory over the Canadiens.
